I earned my B.A. in government and education from The College of William and Mary in 1993. My certification was for secondary school, and my endorsement area was social studies (government in particular). Having said that, I’ve taught pre-schoolers through adults in all subject areas, with the exception of science. My favorite subjects to teach are math (through Pre-Algebra), language arts (grammar especially), and U.S. History.
Before joining BSH this year, I spent a decade at Good Shepherd Episcopal School in Richmond where I provided remediation and enrichment and conducted achievement testing, as an Instructional Support Specialist, to all students K-8, before spending my last six years there teaching middle school and serving as its division head.
I have been married to my husband, Keith, for over 25 years, and we have a 15 year old son, Davison, who is embarking on his freshman year at BSH. Having spent a short time at Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School before an injury, he is very excited to be returning to a nurturing, familial, and spiritual environment like the one from which he graduated middle school.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, watching movies/programs with my family, taking walks, and playing a little tennis.
