Facilities Maintenance Technician

The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician for the 2022-2023 school year. The Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine building maintenance tasks related to carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and grounds maintenance. The Facilities Maintenance Technician performs general cleaning and other tasks as assigned. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt hourly position, reporting to the Head of School.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Paint, remodel, refurbish areas as needed  
  • Repair, maintain/monitor all equipment, furniture, and amenities  
  • Change of all filters for HVAC as required  
  • Prepare classrooms for incoming classes; remove or rearrange furniture for events or classes, as needed   
  • Change light bulbs, interior and exterior, as needed 
  • On call maintenance for all facilities, 24/7  
  • Oversee services that provides trash removal, lawn care maintenance, and cleaning
  • Maintain exterior property, including snow removal  
  • Assist with school event set-ups and breakdowns
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned  
  • Must be able to work flexible hours

Education and Work Experience Requirements:  

  • High school education or equivalent 
  • Experience working in facilities maintenance
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and carpentry  
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision  
  • Must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills; customer service oriented 
  • Must be organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to multitask

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:  

  • Ability to push/lift 75 pounds  
  • Ability to climb ladders and walk on roofs
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require 
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures   
  • Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints

After School Care Staff

BSH is seeking several enthusiastic, caring, and self-motivated part-time staff workers for its After School Care program for the 2022-2023 school year. After School Care positions are offered Monday-Friday, 2:30PM – 5:30PM.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure development of positive relationships with students with a view to promote self-esteem and self- discipline
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment
  • Assist the lead teacher in ensuring the physical, social, cognitive and educational excellence of children
  • Must demonstrate success and reliability in working as a member of a team

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of High School Diploma with relevant, proven experience working with preschool and elementary-aged children.

Substitute Teachers

BSH is seeking substitute teachers for grades Preschool-12th grade to ensure the continuation of instruction in absence of the regular teacher.

Substitutes will follow lesson plans created by the regular teacher, maintain established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned, assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class, during lunch, and other activity periods.

Essential duties:
