Admissions Process

Welcome to The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School.

This is your school.

We are a private Catholic school located in greater Richmond Virginia.

The BSH admissions process begins by getting to know your family and each student applicant personally. Our goal is to offer a streamlined process, while gathering the required information.

START with a visit to our campus to get the best idea of what life is like at BSH. We encourage you to meet our faculty, interact with our students, and personally experience our one-of-a-kind school for your one-of-a-kind-student.

A checklist of steps that take place in the application process is included below. We look forward to working with your family!

Admissions decisions are based upon previous and current school records, personal interviews, and availability of openings. As a convenience to our applicant families, we use an online application and enrollment system.

International Students

The Catholic Church has always made every effort to welcome all nationalities into her community of faith. In order to further this effort, the Diocese of Richmond will endeavor to remain certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to admit F-1 (Non-Immigrant) students. The F-1 (Non-Immigrant) student status applies to those who are in the United States for the purpose of attending school.

Admissions FAQ

2 year olds through 12th grade

Yes, Kindergarten and 1st graders will have an admissions assessment as part of the application process.

For 2nd through 12th grade applicants, all students will have a full shadow day on campus.   We look at current and past student records and transcripts, conduct personal interviews, and obtain feedback from the student’s former school.   If admissions assessments are necessary, we will communicate with each family.

Blessed Sacrament Huguenot offers rolling admissions. Applications are evaluated as they are received and can be submitted until such time that the class is full. Families that plan to apply for financial assistance are encouraged to apply for admission in the fall or winter, as deadlines to apply for aid begin in March.

Your child deserves a complete education. Blessed Sacrament Huguenot is the only co-ed Catholic School in the Richmond area that offers preschool through twelfth grade to children of all faiths. Our staff and administration are dedicated to the whole child—creating an atmosphere of academic, spiritual, physical, and social growth. Everything we do here at BSH is designed to graduate students who are goal-oriented, socially and morally responsible, and equipped with the skills to be successful in higher education and in life. We like to say we offer college prep from day 1.

Blessed Sacrament Huguenot is Middle States Association (MSA) accredited and the Diocese of Richmond is MSA accredited as a school system. MSA is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While their expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, MSA is far from a typical accrediting agency. Their goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, their commitment is to help schools continually improve.

Families with children in grades Kindergarten through 12 are invited to apply for financial aid. Applications for the following school year typically open around December 1. You can apply at any time, but priority is given to those that are submitted with all required documentation by mid-March. Financial aid is awarded based on financial need and is not guaranteed for every family that applies. Applicants can apply online at factsmgt.com.

Our school hours are from 8:10 am to 2:45 pm.

Yes! We provide bus transportation for students in grades Kindergarten through 12. Our buses have stops in Goochland, Midlothian, the West End, and Chesterfield. Bus transportation fees are per family for the year.

No. While Blessed Sacrament Huguenot celebrates its Catholic tradition, our school welcomes students of all faiths. Our primary commitment is the education and celebration of each student the way that God made them. By fostering an environment of mutual respect and understanding, we are preparing our students to continually deepen their understanding of the larger world.

With an average class size of 14, we are able to provide our students with enrichment opportunities that give them the foundation necessary to complete an advanced studies track. At Blessed Sacrament Huguenot, we feel that each student deserves the opportunity to be a member of a team. With over 15 Varsity and Junior Varsity teams, our athletics program is an extension of our school’s mission and values as it benefits the whole person. Character building traits acquired through active participation in our athletics program serve the students on the field, in the classroom, and in life. Student athletes build confidence in their abilities as they learn the importance of teamwork, commitment, a strong work ethic, and respect for others.
