Admissions Process

Welcome to The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School.

This is your school.

The BSH admissions process begins by getting to know your family and each student applicant personally. Our goal is to offer a streamlined process, while gathering the required information.

START with a visit to our campus to get the best idea of what life is like at BSH. We encourage you to meet our faculty, interact with our students, and personally experience our one-of-a-kind school for your one-of-a-kind-student.

A checklist of steps that take place in the application process is included below. We look forward to working with your family!

Admissions decisions are based upon previous and current school records, personal interviews, and availability of openings. As a convenience to our applicant families, we use an online application and enrollment system.

International Students

The Catholic Church has always made every effort to welcome all nationalities into her community of faith. In order to further this effort, the Diocese of Richmond will endeavor to remain certified by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to admit F-1 (Non-Immigrant) students. The F-1 (Non-Immigrant) student status applies to those who are in the United States for the purpose of attending school.

Additional Guidelines

  • Students must be five years of age by September 30th for admittance to Kindergarten.
  • To receive Active Parishioner status for tuition assistance, one must belong to a Catholic parish prior to acceptance and comply with the parish definition of an active member.
  • Prospective students seeking admission for the three year-old Preschool and four year-old Junior Kindergarten programs must be fully toilet-trained.
  • The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School admits qualified students without regard to race, color, religion, or national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to the students at the school.

Admissions FAQ

2 year olds through 12th grade

No, The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School does not require an admissions test. We look at current and past student records and transcripts, conduct personal interviews, and obtain feedback from the student’s former school.

A Kindergarten Readiness assessment will be administered to those who did not complete a Junior Kindergarten program and who are applying for Kindergarten admission.

Blessed Sacrament Huguenot offers rolling admissions. Applications are evaluated as they are received and can be submitted until such time that the class is full. Families that plan to apply for financial assistance are encouraged to apply for admission in the fall or winter, as deadlines to apply for aid begin in March.

Your child deserves a complete education. Blessed Sacrament Huguenot is the only co-ed Catholic School in the Richmond area that offers preschool through twelfth grade to children of all faiths. Our staff and administration are dedicated to the whole child—creating an atmosphere of academic, spiritual, physical, and social growth. Everything we do here at BSH is designed to graduate students who are goal-oriented, socially and morally responsible, and equipped with the skills to be successful in higher education and in life. We like to say we offer college prep from day 1.

Blessed Sacrament Huguenot is AdvancED accredited and the Diocese of Richmond is AdvancED accredited as a school system. AdvancED is the largest community of education professionals in the world. They are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that conducts rigorous, on-site external reviews of Pre-K-12 schools and school systems to ensure that all learners realize their full potential. While their expertise is grounded in more than a hundred years of work in school accreditation, AdvancED is far from a typical accrediting agency. Their goal isn’t to certify that schools are good enough. Rather, their commitment is to help schools continually improve.

AdvancED serves as a trusted partner to 34,000 schools and school systems—employing more than four million educators and enrolling more than 20 million students—across the United States and 70 other nations.

Families with children in grades Kindergarten through 12 are invited to apply for financial aid. The deadline for returning BSH families typically falls around March 1st for the next school year. Financial aid is awarded based on financial need and is not guaranteed for every family that applies. Applicants can apply online at www.factstuitionaid.com.

With over 15 Varsity and Junior Varsity teams, our athletics program is an extension of our school’s mission and values as it benefits the whole person. Character building traits acquired through active participation in our athletics program serve the students on the field, in the classroom, and in life.
