BEFORE & AFTER CARE

Before and after school care is vital to you and important to us.

The Mighty Knights program at The Blessed Sacrament Huguenot School provides before and after school care in a familiar and safe environment where students ages 3 through 12 can develop life skills that promote a strong mind, body, and spirit. The goal of the program is to encourage the development of a healthy and well~rounded child who exhibits self~confidence, faith-based values, a positive attitude and respect for others.

In the afternoons, students are divided into younger and older age groupings in adjoining classrooms. Opening activities include prayer and a parent provided snack. Younger students engage in free play and arts & crafts while older students work on homework assignments. Weather permitting, all students enjoy play and outdoor games on the school playground on a daily basis. Teachers assist with homework and provide creative activities, story time, and hands~on play with toys and manipulatives.

Big Sibs

The Big Sibs Program provides a mentoring opportunity for students in grades 6-12 who are each assigned a “little” sibling in grades JK-5. Monthly Big Sibs events take place which encourage student bonding. Examples of activities include Field Day, annual Christmas tree lighting & caroling, an ice cream social, and more. The Big Sibs program contributes to the family atmosphere and fosters positive relationships between younger and older students.

Student Ambassadors

As a Student Ambassador, you work closely with the Admissions Office, attend important recruitment events, and participate in Admissions activities such as open houses, shadow days, and campus tours. Most importantly, you will meet and work with prospective students and their families as well as represent BSH both on and off campus. Being selected for the Student Ambassador Program is an honor and a big responsibility that enhances leadership skills, promotes positive character development, and looks great on a college application. We encourage all Upper School students to apply for this opportunity.

Bus Transportation

We provide bus transportation for a fee for students in Kindergarten through grade 12. Our buses have stops in Goochland, Midlothian, the West End and Chesterfield.

Arts Abroad Trip

At BSH, we encourage students to be curious travelers, seeking out aesthetic experiences and adventures. Our annual travels abroad have included many trips to Italy, France, Spain, and the United Kingdom. Closer to home, we take advantage of Virginia museums and all that Washington, DC, and Philadelphia have to offer. It is a true joy and privilege for faculty to experience firsthand with students the art and architecture studied in the classroom.

Summer Experience

BSH Knights of Summer Camp provides a safe place for campers to spend all summer, and in the process make new friends. This camp series will offer new opportunities for exploring, learning, and having fun each week.
