SALVETE, Y’ALL!

My name is Patrick Winterrowd and I am a Latin instructor, football and soccer coach here at BSH.

I am originally from Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a B.A. in Classical Civilizations in the summer of 2013. During my time at OU (Boomer Sooner!), I served as President for my local rugby club as well as for the local chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America. During my summer breaks, I helped to excavate spectacular Roman villas at Castellemare di Stabia and Pompeii in Italy.

In 2013, I was accepted to Florida State University, where I received two Masters Degrees, in Roman Archaeology and Latin, respectively. As part of my degrees, I went back to Italy for a fourth time, excavating a mountaintop Etruscan temple sanctuary in Cetamura del Chianti, Italy. I then spent the following year in a Phd program in Classics at the University of Virginia before arriving at BSH in the fall of 2015.

In my time at BSH, I have taught courses in Latin (1-AP) and mythology and have served as an assistant coach for both the football and soccer teams. I have performed in student plays (King Macduff in Shakespeare’s Macbeth), emceed the Homecoming Dance, sung in the student talent show, and taken students to the annual Latin Convention in Richmond, Virginia. I have also had the pleasure of helping to lead a study abroad trip during Spring Break of 2017 to Italy, and am looking forward to a further study abroad trip to Europe (location TBD) this year!

My favorite part of BSH is the community and getting to know each of my students as individuals. I love the small-school atmosphere and the way that everyone works together to achieve our collective goal of providing a well- rounded, Catholic education to our students. Welcome to our family: it’s going to be a great year! GO KNIGHTS!
